I am sharing images of the sunset I saw at Sairee Beach on Koh Tao, a small island in the Gulf of Thailand. The photos were taken in July 2010.
When I visit beaches in Thailand, I usually go to the Andaman Sea side, but I thought the weather might be better on the Gulf side in July, so I traveled from Koh Samui to Koh Tao by boat.
During the trip, the weather was bad, and the boat was shaken heavily by strong rain and waves. This made me feel uncertain about the weather on the island.
I once stayed on Koh Chang for three nights and it rained every single day, which made me realize that even a beautiful sea needs sunlight to truly shine. Because of that experience, I was really concerned this time as well. Fortunately, during my stay on Koh Tao, the weather was mostly fine and I was able to move around without any restrictions.
That said, the clouds became thick in the evening, and although I stayed for three nights, I was not able to see a beautiful sunset. This beach is known for its sunsets, so that was a bit disappointing.
Koh Tao is famous for scuba diving, but I can only share landscape photos. I will share other images of Koh Tao at a later date.
