I have collected images of devatas from Angkor Wat. Since there are a large number of images on this theme, I will be posting them in multiple parts.
Devatas refer to female figures—such as goddesses, court ladies, and dancers—carved on the walls of Khmer ruins. Those at Angkor Wat are especially well known for their high artistic quality.
The reason I became interested in Khmer ruins was not so much the ruins themselves, but rather my fascination with the devatas.
However, many of the devatas at Angkor Wat are quite sensual in appearance, so if you get too close and focus on them, there is a possibility that people around you may misunderstand your intent. I have actually received such looks myself.
